Registering with a GP (General Practitioner)

A General Practitioner (GP) in the UK is a medical doctor who provides primary care services to patients in the community. GPs are usually the first point of contact for most medical issues and manage a wide range of health problems, both physical and mental. GPs are trained to treat all common medical conditions and refer patients (in all specialties) to hospitals or specialists when necessary.

You should register with a GP near the university and your accommodation as soon as possible after arriving in Coventry.

๐Ÿ” Why Itโ€™s Important: It is recommended to register with a GP as soon as possible after arriving in the Coventry University to avoid any delays in accessing medical care. For international students, itโ€™s helpful to provide a brief medical summary during registrationโ€”this should include any existing medical conditions, current medications, known allergies, and details of past vaccinations from your home country. This ensures your GP has the necessary information to offer safe and effective care.
